Isaac Campbell
Isaac Campbell is a contemporary artist whose approach to painting is rooted in experimentation, resilience and personal expression. From an early age, he stayed connected to creativity, and after high school he decided to focus fully on art.
For Isaac, art needs to come from the soul. He believes that a painting should reflect something of the person making it rather than simply trying to create what others expect. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and he prefers to let a painting develop rather than forcing an idea onto the canvas.
His process often starts with only a basic idea. Isaac does not usually make detailed sketches, instead building directly on the canvas and allowing the painting to change as he works. He compares this process to moulding clay: adding, removing and building again until the work begins to make sense.
Experimentation is also an important part of his practice. Isaac does not see traditional materials as a limitation and has painted with whatever was available to him. He has made his own paint and canvases, experimented with different surfaces and explored unusual ways of applying paint. This way of working has taught him to be resourceful and to focus on what he wants to express rather than on having the perfect materials.
At the centre of Isaac's work is the idea that becoming an artist is not about trying to look like one. It is about finding your own way of making, continuing to experiment and allowing the work to come from who you are.
