About the work

Isaac Campbell approaches painting as an experimental and intuitive process. He usually starts with a basic idea rather than a detailed sketch, building the image directly on the canvas. Paint is added, scraped away and built up again as the work develops.

He is not limited by traditional tools or materials and often experiments with what is available to him. Isaac has made his own paint and canvases and has worked on different surfaces, including metal. His approach is rooted in resourcefulness and craftsmanship, allowing the materials and the process to become part of the artwork itself.
